Last night we visited the new Barley on the Hudson Restaurant in Tarrytown, NY. This is the where the old “Striped Bass” used to be. It’s located at 236 Green Street in Tarrytown, New York 10591 and directly on the Hudson River with boat access and a huge outdoor bar with community tables and a large selection of beers on tap!
The outdoor patio open and you can order from the outdoor grill and pick your food up. The starters are their Giant Pretzel (served with a beer cheese sauce), Crab Cakes (with slaw and balsamic glaze), Fresh Guacamole, Buffalo Wontons, Philly Rolls, Fried Calamari, Chicken Fingers and French Fries. They have a Barley house salad and the main plates included kicked-up crab cake in a patty and a Hudson chicken sandwich, and a Nathan’s hot dog.
They were out of a few dishes and we couldn’t get a table or did we think that any of these items would be enough for dinner. When we were there was a long line plus we wanted to sit down and be served and there is no waitress table service on the patio.
Luckily, there are two other choices to have dinner at Sunset Cove and the new RiverMarket Bar & Kitchen Restaurant both with outdoor patios and views of the Hudson River. At the newly developed Tarrytown waterfront, you can enjoy the sunsets and live Jazz concerts at Pierson Park. Here is the schedule of artists performing this summer:
7/21: Michael Tate & 3D
There are also great recreational things you can do here in the park, as well as, walking the Westchester Riverwalk, a paved foot path that stretches for about a mile along the waterfront.
The Barley on the Hudson Restaurant just opened on July 4th and we’re sure once they get the main restaurant open we’ll be able to enjoy dinner there, and provide an update on our experience. However, if you are looking to enjoy a few drinks and appetizers or a lite meal in a new setting Barley on the Hudson Restaurant is well worth the trip!
