THE BATTLE OF THE BANDS
The semi-finals, for the Pleasantville Music Festival, are taking place on Sunday, April 29th, beginning at 1pm, at Lucy’s Lounge in Pleasantville, young musicians from throughout the local area will perform for a panel of music industry professionals in the semifinal round of the festival’s annual Battle of the Bands. Sponsored by Lagond Music School in Elmsford, participants will be competing for a shot at opening the festival. Admission is free so come by, have lunch, a drink and enjoy the music. Following the Battle at around 6:30pm, join us as we reveal the line-up for this year’s festival. We won’t be fully going public until Monday, but if you come by Sunday early evening, you will qualify as a PMF ‘Insider’ and thereby get the early scoop.
If you can’t make it on Sunday, April 29th the following week, Sunday, May 6th, Garcia’s in Port Chester will hold another round of bands battling to preform at the festival. Those who make it to the finals will play at Lagond Music School in Elmsford on Saturday, May 19th. All these shows are open to the public, and all are welcome to cheer on their favorite bands. The winners get to open the Pleasantville Music Festival on July 14th.
The 10th annual Hogs-4-Hope Falls to River Run, which benefits the Ronal McDonald House New York, will be held on Sunday, April 29th. Member for the Yonkers Fire Department, Road Kings MC and others will gather at Croton Gorge Park between 9-11am and then depart with a police escorted ride down to the JFK Marina on the Hudson River in Yonkers. The event will include a pig roast BBQ, raffle prizes, live music by Whoz Ya Daddy, and a Pinup contest and vendors. If you cannot make the ride, you are welcome to purchase a ticket for the BBQ only!
The Members of the Yonkers FD, along with Road Kings MC New York along with other sponsors for this event will be attending. Ronald McDonald House New York is a charity that has been close to the hearts of the members of the Yonkers FD for 20 years, after one of their members inspiring battle with cancer at Ronald McDonald House New York. The Ronald McDonald House New York is a home-away-from home for children and their families while battling pediatric cancer in NYC area hospitals. Ronald McDonald House New York is the largest facility of its type in the world.
