Westchester County Parks Westchester parks offer some of the most beautiful scenery from the Pier at Rye Town Park and Oakland Beach to the Historic Hudson River with Hastings on the Hudson Park providing a picnic area to view the sunset over the mountains, the skyline of New York City and the George Washington Bridge. From the Boardwalk in Yonkers to the Ward Pound Ridge Preserve park which offers a museum, gallery, and activities such as hiking, fishing & horseback riding. With miles of hiking and biking trails, public swimming pools and tennis courts, activities on the Hudson and Long Island Sound, there is no reason to not get out and enjoy all the Westchester has to offer in every season!

Bronx River Pathway – A paved, multi-use pathway that parallels the Bronx River Parkway (only during summer months)

Note: The damaged section between Route 118 and Birdsall Road in Yorktown can now be bypassed by a narrow, fenced area adjacent to the trail. Appropriate signage has been installed to direct trail users.

Fishing is permitted in streams and lakes under the control of the Westchester County Parks Department, except in the nature preserves and where “No Fishing” signs are displayed. Find locations and fish species.
Types of fishing
A fly fishing area is available at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation in Cross River. In winter, ice fishing is allowed on several lakes, conditions permitting, except in areas specifically designated for ice skaters.
Fishing license requirements
A New York State fishing license is required; licensing information can be obtained by calling the Westchester County Clerk’s office at (914) 995-3088 or the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation at (866) 472-4332. Information on permits and requirements for fishing in reservoirs located within Westchester can be obtained by calling the New York City Department of Environmental Protection at (914) 232-1309.
Westchester has six, 18-hole golf courses are at your service from early spring to late autumn, weather and conditions permitting. They are Hudson Hills, and Maple Moor with driving ranges at Mohansic, Sprain Lake, Dunwoodie and Saxon Woods
Golfers may make online reservations up to one week in advance, 24 hours a day. Reservations may also be made by calling the golf course or in person. The E-Z Reserve program enables golfers with a valid Westchester County Park Pass to block out a starting tee time for a series of weeks. Click here for more information

Playland Park often called Rye Playland and also known as Playland Amusement Park, is an amusement park located in Rye, New York. - Provides self-launching access to Long Island Sound for kayaks only.
- May through September, 8 a.m. to dusk, 7 days a week. Parking fees apply.
- Access to Read Sanctuary and kayak launch is possible by becoming a member of the Friends of Read Wildlife Sanctuary Inc., a non-profit group associated with the nature preserve. Members are issued a bar-coded membership card that allows access via the Playland parking lot. This access is for the sanctuary and launch only.
